Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Phuket International (HKT)
Some nationalities can obtain a Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Phuket International Airport. Eligible countries, fees, and documents change. Confirm with Royal Thai Immigration, your embassy, and your airline before you fly.
Two stages when you use VOA
Think of HKT arrival in two stages:
- VOA desk - application, photos, fee, possible wait in the VOA hall
- Immigration - passport control, often with your greeter after stage one
Fast track saves time in stage two and helps you navigate the terminal. It does not replace stage one.
Documents commonly requested
Requirements vary by nationality. Often requested items:

- ✈️ Return or onward ticket within the allowed stay
- 🏨 Hotel booking or address in Thailand

How long VOA adds at HKT
VOA can add 30 to 60 minutes at busy times, on top of walking from the gate. Peak resort season (November-March) stacks leisure flights; both VOA and immigration slow down.

VOA and TDAC
Most visitors must also complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) on the official Immigration site before arrival. TDAC is not a visa.

If you already have an e-visa or visa exemption
Do not join the VOA queue "just in case." Use the lane that matches your passport status. Standing in the wrong line wastes holiday time.
Fees and payment

Keep some Thai baht or confirm which cards the VOA desk accepts on your travel date.
